New Year’s Resolution – Fight Fraud!

New Year’s Resolution – Fight Fraud!

Three-in-ten Americans report making at least one New Year’s resolution each year, with half making more than one. For those making resolutions, money and finances are among the top goals listed. In 2025, LifeStore wants you to resolve to stay safe from scams and fraud with these tips.

      Review Transactions Frequently
Be proactive against fraud by regularly reviewing transactions via online/mobile banking, your bank statements, credit reports, and other online accounts for any unauthorized activity. If you suspect fraudulent activity on your account, report it to your bank and the appropriate authorities, such as your local law enforcement agency and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

      Enable Debit Card Alerts
Within the LifeStore Bank Mobile App, you can use the Card Controls feature to set up real time alerts, and spending limits, limit the location a card can be used and even turn off your debit card.
o    Turn your card on or off in real-time
o    Protect against theft or a lost or stolen card
o    Restrict the amount and where and when you spend
o    Receive mobile alerts when activity occurs

      Update Passwords
Periodically, update your passwords you use to access any online shopping, social media, or financial accounts. It’s important to use unique, strong passwords that are difficult to decipher for each online account you have established. Enable multi-factor authentication when available. Most importantly, do not share your password with anyone.

      Freeze Credit Reports
Freezing your credit report, also called a "credit freeze" or "security freeze," is done to prevent unauthorized access to your credit information, essentially blocking anyone from opening new credit accounts in your name without your explicit permission, which is a key protection against identity theft and fraud.

Here’s How to Freeze Your Credit With All 3 Credit Bureaus:
